Our new Jacksonville location is located within an operating Federal Reserve Bank location — The Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta Jacksonville Branch. This facility is guarded 24/7 by an armed federal police force. This location is one of the most secure datacenter facilities in the Southeastern United States. This new location is just minutes from our corporate offices. Our new Jacksonville location features a network blend of Level3 and Time Warner Telecom (TWTC). At this time, we are only offering Linux VPS and Colocation out of this facility. This new facility is already listed as an option on the order form under ’800 Water St.’. If you are interested in colocating within this facility, please contact our Sales team and we will work with you on a quote.

Our new Phoenix location is housed within the brand new PhoenixNAP facility, with bandwidth provided by CWIE. The network consists of Level3, Global Crossing, Highwinds, and Cogent. At this time, we are offering Linux VPS out of this facility, and Windows VPS will be available within the next 30-45 days. This new facility is already listed as an option on the order form under ‘PhoenixNAP’.

We have launched a new location, available immediately, for Linux VPS services — Falkenstein, Germany, EU. This new location boasts powerful hardware, a great network, and satisfies the demand we have received for a European location.

The new location has over 130Gbit/sec of capacity and is connected to numerous exchange points in and around Europe.

This is yet another way we are expanding into the ever growing market.

We have been hard at work with Nova and I am pleased to announce some of the latest feature additions and bug fixes.

• Bandwidth Alert System
• Bandwidth Usage Fixed
• Bandwidth Percentage Fixed
• Ability to Enable TUN/TAP
• PTY/TTY Bug Fix for CentOS

We do have some features planned for the next release that is coming soon… This release will include automated resource upgrades (IPs, Disk, RAM, etc).

In order for us to continue to grow and expand, we need to be able to properly manage our infrastructure. Unfortunately, our current system, Mission Control, is not scaling well as we continue to grow. Mission Control is a conglomerate of numerous open source and commercial scripts and the level of management we require just is not there. With the addition of random code bits over time, it has become quite tedious to maintain and the time we put into it could be better spent elsewhere.

Over the month of October, we will be performing a migration to the industry leading Ubersmith. Ubersmith is truly designed for ever growing environments and will allow us to put more man power where it is deserved.

We have ported many of the must have features from Mission Control (reverse dns, dns management, monitoring, etc etc) and converted them into proper Ubersmith modules. As we did this, we rewrote code where necessary and created a much more cohesive meld between everything. For the most part, nothing feature wise will change. There are a couple of features that will not be available during the initial migration (automated upgrades and invoice extensions to name a few). These will reappear once the migration is completed and we can port them over.

With the move to Ubersmith also brings some much awaited features for the majority of our Atlanta dedicated server crowd — Remote reboots and bandwidth utilization graphs!

Overall, this move is a step in the right direction and is a sign that we are growing! We have been in the industry for just short of 3 years now and are feeling the growing pains as we mature. This switch to Ubersmith will ease some of those pains and allow us to continue to prosper for years to come.

An email will be dispatched to you once your account has been migrated into Ubersmith. Once you have been migrated, your previous Mission Control account will be disabled.

I just wanted to make a quick post and wish everyone a happy Independence Day Today was nothing short of awesome for myself, I hope everyone else had a great time as well. As some of you may know, I am based out of Jacksonville, FL, so I took a quick 25-minute drive south to Saint Augustine, which just so happens to be the Nation’s Oldest City (founded in 1565), to celebrate the 234 birthday of the great United States.

The city put on an amazing fireworks display this year over the Matanzas River immediately adjacent to the Castillo de San Marcos. I attempted to get a couple decent photographs to share with my HTC Touch Pro2 since I did not have my camera handy.

Anyways, just wanted to share a couple photos from the fireworks on the bay The photos did not come out too good as it was hard to focus on them and get the picture taken quick enough. I was lucky enough to get a spot right on the river front, so the view was awesome

A couple SC staff will be lurking in there, so feel free to ask any questions or whatnot. We are fine with providing limited IRC support as well — Anything requiring a password would require a ticket, however.

Note: This IRC is hosted off of the SC network. This does not mean that you are free to begin running IRC from your VPS or dedicated servers — It is still strictly prohibited per our TOS and AUO. We do scan our network weekly for potential IRC hosts, so we will find out sooner or later if you are violating this policy.

I just wanted to post an update regarding Nova and it’s upcoming release…

Basically, here is how it is going to work: The initial release will not bring Nova to it’s full potential. Some features will be disabled or unavailable during the initial release. Our plan is to migrate all Linux OpenVZ VPS from VSXPathway into Nova and then monitor how things go. An update will be released within approximately 30 days of the initial release that brings further functionality, refining some of the existing functionality based on usage trends, and hopefully adds full Xen support. Xen support is still in development and will not be released during the initial rollout. Hopefully within 60 days of migrating Linux VPS into Nova, we will then be able to migrate all Xen based VPS into it as well.

We are aiming for release within the first two weeks of July, but we will push it back if we are not comfortable with something and want to rework it.

This roll out largely depends on how well it functions on a large scale. We will be completing extensive testing under stress before release.
