New East Coast Location — Secaucus, NJ

May 19th, 2009

Well, we did it again! We have just launched our THIRD datacenter location for VPS services!

Over the past several weeks we have been working on many improvements, and this does include more datacenter location choices.

After careful market research and datacenter scouting we specifically chose the 110 Meadowlands datacenter in Secaucus, NJ.

110 Meadowlands is just a short 5-minute drive from New York City and offers a variety of peering relationships. Current peerings include NYIIX, 60 Hudson, 111 8th Avenue, and Telehouse UK. These peering relationships bring in numerous bandwidth providers such as AboveNet, Tiscali, Global Crossing, T-Systems, Level(3), Sprint, and LinX.

Free DotNetPanel Express is included with every Windows Virtual Private Server. Plesk and DotNetPanel Standard are available at an additional cost.

New VPS Backup System

March 25th, 2009

We have recently been revisiting our backup strategy and we will be implementing a much improved system for backing up all of our VPS hardware nodes to our Kansas City, MO location. This new system is expected to go live by the end of this week.

This in no way suggests that you should not make your own backups! Although we are using RAID protected storage and will be making scheduled backups of all hardware nodes you are still responsible for your own backup routine!

Our backup methods are only for the event that a complete hardware node failure occurs and we must provision a new node.

All the best,
Daniel Stephens

New Monitoring System

March 15th, 2009

After much testing and improvements, we are proud to announce that we have released our FREE Monitoring System!

This new system is integrated right within our client panel and allows you to easily monitor any IP/Domain on any port! This monitoring is currently done on a 5-minute interval from our server in New Jersey. As time goes on we will add additional monitoring stations and possibly lower the interval.

This is yet another value added service that we are bringing each and every one of our customers. To take advantage of the new monitoring system, simply login to your client area and use the proceed to the ‘Monitoring’ page on the main navigation bar. We have included a list of commonly used ports on the sidebar for easy reference.

The system works solely off of IP addresses. If you input a domain name in the IP field, it will be automatically converted to an IP.

We ask that you please notify us of any potential problems you see with this new system as it may still have some slight bugs that need to be ironed out.

With this system you will get an email if the service goes down and another once it comes back online.

We hope that everyone finds our new client management system (SCPanel) is useful and easy to use. We are continuously looking for ways to expand this system and offer new features to our clients. If you have any suggestions, please contact me personally via email. My e-mail address is daniel [at] servercomplete [dot] com.

Client Area SSH Access

March 14th, 2009

We have just added a java based SSH client to our client panel to allow you to easily connect to your server without the need for downloading a tool such as PuTTY. When you login you will have a new option on the menu bar to access the SSH terminal.

New MRTG System

March 13th, 2009

Tonight we released our much improved MRTG graphs for Dallas dedicated servers. Previously you could see one graph for the past 30 days. We have made it so you may now choose a start and end date and the graph for that time period will be shown.

For the technical people wondering how we have implemented the date picker… JQuery and some PHP work ;)

Forgotten Password System Fixed

March 12th, 2009

Had a couple of reports that the forgotten password retrieval system was not working for some users… When we switched to the new skin last night there was a typo in the syntax for the password retrieval tool.

This has been fixed and if you have any further problems with it, let us know!

A frequent question that we get asked over in Sales is for more information about our datacenter locations and which is best for you.

Well, you asked and here it is!

AtlantaNAP Overview

AtlantaNAP is considered to have some of the best bandwidth in the indsutry. Currently our Atlanta network is powered by Level3, nLayer, PCCWBTN, Qwest, Savvis, InterNAP, Mzima, RapidLink, Sprint, and Telia. With the broad arrange of connections that the Atlanta network has to offer, you can rest assured that your server will perform at it’s best.

Security

Security starts from the moment you enter the building with 10 foot high razor wire fences surrounding the 4 acre property, all of which is covered by security lights and cameras. All footage from the cameras is stored on a specially built security server with redundant storage. Entrance through the main gate requires a keycard or manual access granted by our onsite security guards and happens through an electric gate for customers’ convenience. The front door is again protected by a key card reader. After entering the gate, there are three locked/key carded doors protecting the datacenter and a biometric hand scanner authentication. Once inside the datacenter itself, customers assets are protected by locked secure cabinets or cages. All assets entering or being removed from the building are logged by an onsite security guard. Our guard service is managed by a duly sworn armed police officer with arrest powers.

Power

The Atlanta NAP is one of the few facilities able to support even your most power dense applications. Power is dual fed from the grid and protected though our redundant paralleled power system, configured with an additional full wrap-around bypass for extra redundancy (we are able to take the system offline for any type of internal maintenance without dropping power to the facility). The UPS system is backed up by a state of the art parallel generator system with multiple generators running in N+1 format. These are computer controlled and automated. The generators have 150 gallon day tanks fed from redundant pumps from our 12,000 gallon reserve tank. The system is powered by state of the art by Cummins turbocharged generators and digital fuel management system by Simplex and Veeder-Root.

Cooling Systems

The Atlanta NAP currently has 1000 tons of cooling piped into its 50,000 sq. foot datacenter. With pre planned capacity of over 2000 tons, cooling will never be an issue. Each bank of cooling towers utilizes state of the art energy management technology. As with all core system, the cooling towers are N+1, fed by redundant N+1 pumps. The Atlanta NAP also has a 30,000 gallon reserve water tank in case the city water supply ever fails.
